This past week was a rough one for a lot of NFL kickers, but that wasn't the case for Adam Vinatieri

The league's oldest player booted three field goals for the Colts on Sunday, including a 27-yarder that beat the Jaguars in overtime. The 42-year-old also hit a 54-yarder and a 32-yarder in the game.

The three field goals -- along with an extra point -- gave Vinatieri a total 1,004 points in his Colts career, which was big for two reasons: It made him the Colts all-time leading scorer and it also made him the only player in NFL history to score 1,000 or more points with multiple teams.

During 10 years with in New England, Vinatieri scored 1,158 points. That total still stands as the second most in Patriots' history, behind only Stephen Gostkowski, who had 1,214 career points going into New England's Week 4 bye.

As for the Colts, Vinatieri passed Mike Vanderjagt as the team's all-time leading scorer. Vanderjagt scored 995 points during his eight years in Indy. You might remember Vanderjagt more as the guy Peyton Manning once called an "idiot kicker."

Anyway, back to Vinatieri.

To put his 1,000 point accomplishment into perspective, consider this: Only one other player in NFL history has even scored 800 points with more than one team. Morten Anderson scored 1,318 points with the Saints, before moving on and scoring 806 points with the Falcons.

Anderson is the NFL's all-time leading scorer.

Vinatieri is currently the No. 3 all-time leading scorer in NFL history (2,162 points) and he'd probably have to play into late 2017 or early 2018 if he wants to pass Anderson, who's sitting at No. 1 with 2,544 points.
