That's a big horse. (Instagram: @vincewilfork )

Vince Wilfork is making a big splash this NFL offseason by buying a new, big race horse. And he's promising "big things" for that horse.

Wilfork announced his free-agent acquisition with an Instagram post, which doesn't come close to his former teammate Rob Gronkowski's Instagram announcement in terms of general coolness, but it is still cool given Wilfork's stature compared to the horse.

They're both very large.

Meet Elysea's World hopefully some big things coming our way

As Wilfork wrote in the caption, his horse's name is Elysea's World. I did some Googling and discovered that Elysea is the kingdom of the Elyos for something called Aion, which is presumably a video game.

Anyway, as Fox Sports pointed out, Wilfork isn't a stranger to the world of horse racing. A Sports Illustrated story last year included a nugget about Wilfork's first horse, Great Minds. Wilfork purchased that horse in 2012.

"I realize racing is a gamble," Wilfork told SI at the time. "But this is one way that I can actually spend my money. I could just give it to some guy who is probably running a Ponzi scheme and he just sends me fake statements every month. Or I can buy horses and go watch them race. That's a lot more enjoyable."

That actually does sound like an enjoyable way to spend money, if only I had millions of dollars in career earnings.
