Lions receiver Ryan Broyles runs about two-thirds of his routes from the slot. With the team's offseason additions, he may get squeezed out of the slot, reports MLive.com.
Detroit drafted tight end Eric Ebron and plans to use him in the slot. Then the Lions drafted a true slot receiver in Notre Dame's TJ Jones. And free-agent acquisition Golden Tate will play inside and outside in coordinator Joe Lombardi's scheme.
None of that bodes well for Broyles, who's coming back from a ruptured Achilles tendon. The Lions' moves indicate the team is "making provisions should Broyles not make a full recovery from his third consecutive season-ending injury," the report said.
