PITTSBURGH -- An interesting -- and unexpected -- name appeared on the attendance list at Tuesday's Bruins-Penguins game in Pittsburgh.
Former Columbus Blue Jackets general manager Scott Howson -- as a representative of the Edmonton Oilers.
Howson was fired as Blue Jackets general manager last month after running the team since 2007 and replaced by Jarmo Kekalainen, the first European general manager in the NHL. He's now back in the NHL for the time being.
Howson will be serving as a pro and college scout with the Oilers for the remainder of this season, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie.
He has a bit of a history with the Oilers organization as he served as the general manager of their AHL teams in Cape Breton and then Hamilton, before eventually being promoted to assistant general manager of the NHL team, a position he held until he accepted the Blue Jackets' job.
