Martin Erat suffers concussion during world championship semifinal
Nashville Predators forward Martin Erat suffered a concussion during the World Championships on Saturday and will not be available to play in the Bronze Medal game on Sunday.
The top concern for an NHL team when one of its players takes part in an international tournament has to be that the player is simply able to avoid injury.
During the World Championship semifinal on Saturday, Nashville Predators forward Martin Erat suffered a concussion during Slovakia's 3-1 win over the Czech Republic.
Erat was injured early in the first period when he was on the receiving end of this hit.
Czech Republic general manager Slava Lener said after the game that Erat suffered a concussion and will not be available to play in the Bronze Medal game against Finland on Sunday.
The IIHF has already announced there will be no discipline for the hit.
