Why the Golden Knights Can Win the Cup

Top Hurricanes News

  • Hurricanes' Alexander Nikishin: Diagnosed with concussion

Nikishin was officially diagnosed with a concussion suffered during Saturday's 4-2 win over the Senators, the Hurricanes announced Sunday.

The injury was suffered after a massive open-ice hit thrown by Tyler Kleven. With his diagnosis, the 24-year-old will now have to clear the NHL's concussion protocol in order to return to the ice. The good news for him is that the Hurricanes dispatched the Senators in a sweep, so the team will have some time off as they await their second-round matchup, giving the young defenseman a chance to not miss a game. Nikishin finished with no points and was a plus-1 rating in the four games against the Senators.

  • Hurricanes' Jalen Chatfield: Gathers helper Saturday

Chatfield logged an assist, two shots on goal and two hits in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Senators in Game 4.

Chatfield had one helper, seven shots on net, four blocked shots, three hits and six PIM over four games as the Hurricanes swept the Senators out of the first round. The 29-year-old defenseman dealt with a lower-body injury late in the regular season but has been able to handle his usual top-four minutes in the playoffs. He posted 17 points, 100 shots on net, 63 blocked shots and a plus-15 rating over 72 regular-season outings.

  • Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Earns two assists Saturday

Jarvis logged two assists in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Senators in Game 4.

Jarvis had gone six games without a point entering this contest. He also rested three times prior to the start of the postseason, but the Hurricanes got through a first-round sweep of the Senators without getting much out of the top line. Jarvis had 66 points over 71 regular-season outings this year. In his playoff career prior to this year, he picked up 19 goals and 43 points across 55 appearances.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Silencing doubters with excellence

Andersen made 25 saves in a 4-2 win over Ottawa on Saturday in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference First Round.

Andersen allowed just five goals in four games. He has dazzled with a 1.10 GAA, .955 save percentage and one shutout this postseason. Andersen has heard doubters throughout his career, but this performance has him near the top of the Conn Smythe odds list to this point in the postseason. He and the Canes now await the winner of the Flyers-Penguins series.

  • Hurricanes' Sebastian Aho: Two empty-net goals in Game 4 win

Aho scored two goals in a 4-2 win over Ottawa on Saturday in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference First Round.

Both went into an empty net. Aho's first came at 17:38 of the third to make it 3-1, and he added another at 18:45 after the Sens had pulled to within a goal. Aho put up seven goals, eight assists and 41 shots in 15 playoff games last postseason, and he has continued the magic with three goals and 10 shots in four games so far this year. Carolina's second line carried most of the weight against the Senators; Aho and his first-line mates will be looking to step things up in the second round against either the Flyers or the Penguins.

  • Hurricanes' Taylor Hall: Leads NHL in postseason scoring

Hall scored a goal and added an assist in a 4-2 win over the Senators on Saturday in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference First Round.

Hall is on a four-game, seven-point scoring streak (two goals, five assists; 14 shots), and he leads the NHL in postseason scoring. Yes, you read that right. Hall leads the NHL postseason scoring list. His line, complete with Logan Stankoven and Jackson Blake, put up a total of 16 points in the series sweep. Hall and the Canes now wait on either the Flyers or Penguins for Round 2.

  • Hurricanes' Logan Stankoven: Playing like roof on fire

Stankoven scored a goal Saturday in a 4-2 win over Ottawa in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference First Round.

He netted a power-play goal in the third period to break a 1-1 tie. The Hurricanes put in two empty-net tallies late in the game to secure the series sweep. Stankoven scored in each of the four games against the Senators. He's the first player in franchise history to start a postseason with a four-game goal streak. Dating back to the regular season, he has amassed 11 markers and 16 points in his last 12 appearances. Stankoven's four playoff goals tie him with Brandon Hagel of the Lightning for the NHL lead.

  • Hurricanes' Alexander Nikishin: Suffers injury Saturday

Nikishin (upper body) won't return to Saturday's Game 4 matchup against Ottawa.

Nikishin needed help getting off the ice after being hit hard by Ottawa's Tyler Kleven in the second period. The 24-year-old Nikishin hasn't earned a point in his first four NHL postseason appearances, but he has two shots on goal, five blocked shots and six hits.

  • Hurricanes' Nikolaj Ehlers: Unavailable Saturday

Ehlers (lower body) won't play in Game 4 against Ottawa on Saturday.

Ehlers has an assist and seven shots in three playoff games this year. He also recorded 26 goals and 71 points in 82 regular-season appearances. Carolina has a 3-0 series lead, so the Hurricanes will have an extended stretch of time off if they win Saturday, which might be helpful for Ehlers. Nicolas Deslauriers is expected to draw into the lineup Saturday due to Ehlers' absence.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Set to start Saturday

Andersen is expected to guard the road goal against Ottawa on Saturday in Game 4, Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal reports.

Andersen is coming off a 21-save performance in Game 3's 2-1 win over the Senators on Thursday. He has surrendered only three goals on 83 shots in Carolina's first three contests of the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Hurricanes can advance to the second round if they secure a victory in Saturday's matchup.

  • Hurricanes' Eric Robinson: Picks up helper in win

Robinson notched an assist and two hits in Thursday's 2-1 win over the Senators in Game 3.

Robinson has played in all three playoff games so far, though he could get swapped out for Nicolas Deslauriers if the Hurricanes want more toughness later on. This helper ended a 13-game point drought for Robinson. The winger picked up 18 points, 84 shots on net, 90 hits and a plus-7 rating over 67 regular-season contests. He's in his third career playoff run, having collected just four points across 25 games over the previous two postseasons he participated in.

Hall is in the playoffs for the seventh time in his career -- over the previous six runs, he logged 35 points across 54 games.

Andersen made 21 saves in a 2-1 win over Ottawa in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference First Round on Thursday.

Andersen was tested, but Ottawa wasn't particularly effective in crucial situations. The Senators went 0-for-5 on the power play, putting up just four shots, which included a 5-on-3 opportunity for 1:28 in the second period. Andersen is 3-0 with a sparkling 0.84 GAA and .964 save percentage in three starts this postseason. The Hurricanes can move to the next round with a victory in Game 4 on Saturday.

Blake scored a goal in Thursday's 2-1 win over the Senators in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference First Round.

Blake has at least a point in each of the Hurricanes' three playoff games and four points (one goal, three assists) overall. Blake and linemates Logan Stankoven and Taylor Hall have led the team every game, and Carolina can advance to the next round with a Game 4 win Saturday.

  • Hurricanes' Logan Stankoven: Makes franchise history with goal

Stankoven scored a goal in a 2-1 win over Ottawa in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference First Round on Thursday.

Stankoven became the first player in franchise history to open the scoring in three straight Stanley Cup Playoff games. He went bar down over the blocker of Linus Ullmark early in the first to stake the Hurricanes to a 1-0 lead. Stankoven (three goals, one assist) and linemates Taylor Hall (one goal, four assists) and Jackson Blake (one goal, three assists) have accounted for almost all of the team's offense. The Hurricanes lead the series 3-0 and can move to the next round with a victory Saturday.

Andersen is expected to defend the road cage in Ottawa on Thursday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.

Andersen has been sharp in the first two games of the playoffs, allowing two goals on 61 shots (.967 save percentage) in a pair of wins over Ottawa. The netminder is on a four-game winning streak dating back to the regular season and has taken over the No. 1 job in Carolina from rookie Brandon Bussi. The Senators were eighth in NHL scoring during the regular season, generating 3.35 goals per game, a far cry from the 1.00 goals per game they've generated to begin the playoffs.
