2024 Paris Olympics: Novak Djokovic could face Rafael Nadal in the second round of Men's Tennis
The pair of all-time greats are in the same bracket when the players meet at Roland Garros

The draw for the 2024 Paris Olympics tennis event was officially announced on Thursday, and it appears we could be getting a legendary matchup early on. Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are on the same side of the bracket and could be meeting in the second round.
Djokovic has a record 24-Grand Slams but has never won gold at the Olympics. After world No. 1 Jannik Sinner withdrew because of tonsillitis, Djokivic was awarded the top seed at Roland Garros -- home of the French Open. He will take on Australia's Matthew Ebden in the first round.
Ebden was a last-minute entry after Holger Rune withdrew due to an on-going wrist injury. After the draw, he went on social media to joke about his luck -- whether it's good or bad is yet to be determined -- because winning means back-to-back games against Djokovic and Nadal.
Nadal, unseeded, will start off these Summer Games against Hungary's Marton Fuscovics, who is currently No. 83 in the ATP rankings.

The Spanish legend grabbed his only gold medal in singles during his Olympic debut in the 2008 Beijing Games. Interestingly enough, Nadal earned his ticket to the title match with a 6-4 1-6, 6-4 victory against Djokovic. The Serbian star did not go home completely empty-handed as he defeated United States' James Blake to get bronze, which was his country's first Olympic tennis medal.
Nadal has won 22 Grand Slams, including a record 14 French Open titles. Roland Garros is a place where he is very comfortable playing, but unfortunately injury woes have plagued him for the last few years and he hasn't been at his best.
During this year's French Open, Nadal got a difficult draw and was not able to get past world No. 4 Alexander Zverev in the first round. Zverev won gold in Tokyo after taking down Karen Khachanov 6-3, 6-1.
Through their legendary careers, Nadal and Djokovic have faced each other 59 times, including in all four Grand Slam tournaments. Djokovic leads their all-time series 30–29, but Nadal won their most recent meeting 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4) in the 2022 Roland Garros quarterfinal.
Nadal will also be competing in doubles, along with world No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz -- who won the 2024 French Open and Wimbledon trophies.
