Brazil coach Dunga fired after failure in the Copa America Centenario
Brazil is expected to name their new coach soon ahead of the Olympics
Everyone thought Brazil was a lock to make it out of the group stage at the Copa America this summer, but shockingly it didn't and now the team is looking for a new coach. The Brazilian soccer federation relieved Dunga of his duties on Tuesday, ending his second stint as manager with the five-time World Cup winners.
In Copa America's Group B with Ecuador, Haiti and Peru, Brazil could only beat Haiti, drawing Ecuador and losing to Peru on a blown handball call that resulted in the winning goal.
The 52-year-old manager, who won the 1994 World Cup as a player, did win the 2007 Copa America and 2009 Confederations Cup as manager of Brazil, but the results in his second stint have been less than fantastic. Aside from the disaster at Copa America, Brazil also currently sits in sixth place in CONMEBOL qualifying for the 2018 World Cup.
Corinthians manager Tite, who has won a Copa Libertadores and a Club World Cup with the Sao Paulo-based team, is expected to replace Dunga.
