A rematch of last year's Champions League semifinals will take place in the quarterfinals this time around when Real Madrid faces Chelsea on Wednesday. The Blues prevailed last year en route to winning the UCL title, and they will now host Madrid in 2022 Champions League play. Chelsea advanced to this round after making easy work of LOSC Lille with a 4-1 aggregate win in the Round of 16. Real Madrid's spot in the 2022 UEFA Champions League quarterfinals came after overcoming an aggregate deficit to knock off Paris Saint-Germain in the quarters. UEFA Champions League picks for Real Madrid vs. Chelsea

Before you tune in to Wednesday's match, you need to see the Chelsea vs. Real Madrid picks from SportsLine's European soccer insider Martin Green. After working in the sports betting industry for several years, Green became a professional sports writer and handicapper and has covered the game worldwide. Since then, his European soccer picks have been spot-on. Green has generated well over $37,000 for $100 bettors since the 2017-18 season, and he has his finger on the pulse of the game all over the globe.

For Real Madrid vs. Chelsea, Green is backing under 2.5 goals at -130 odds. Real Madrid appears to play more conservatively when on the road, as four of its last six away games have gone under 2.5 total goals. Those games have averaged just 1.5 combined goals, as the Real Madrid defense that's given up the second fewest goals in La Liga seems to have more of a presence on the road.

On the other hand, Chelsea isn't lighting up the scoreboard in its home games, but its defense remains stout at Stamford Bridge. The Blues have averaged just 1.33 goals over their last six home games across all competitions, while allowing 0.83 goals. Five of those six games had under 2.5 total goals in regulation.

Green is predicting that Wednesday's match won't deviate from the types of recent matches these teams have played, respective of their locations. That would also fall in line with historical matches between these two, as they've played five times previously, and four of them had under 2.5 goals.
