Thousands turn out to pay respect to Muhammad Ali at memorial service
'The Greatest' was memorialized on Friday in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky with eulogies from family members and well-known friends
It was time for us to remember "The Greatest."
On Friday in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, thousands gathered to memorialize Muhammad Ali and remember his captivating life and career at the KFC Yum! Center.
Ali's body passed by his boyhood home via funeral motorcade on its way to the service. The KFC Yum! Center was at full capacity with roughly 15,000 watching as Ali was eulogized by family members and well-known friends.
President Bill Clinton, comedian Billy Crystal and sportscaster Bryant Gumbel all gave their fondest memories of Ali during eulogies. Will Smith, who played the three-time heavyweight champion in the biopic 'Ali,' and Lennox Lewis served as pallbearers for Ali. They will be joined by Mike Tyson, who was a late addition Friday morning.
