Cincinnati @ East Carolina
Current Records: Cincinnati 14-6; East Carolina 11-8
What to Know
The East Carolina Pirates are 1-8 against the Cincinnati Bearcats since February of 2016, but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit Sunday. The Pirates and Cincinnati will face off in an American Athletic battle at noon ET at Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so their meeting could be a low-scoring affair.
The contest between East Carolina and the Memphis Tigers this past Thursday was not a total blowout, but with East Carolina falling 71-54 on the road, it was darn close to turning into one. The top scorer for East Carolina was guard Tristen Newton (19 points).
Meanwhile, Cincinnati was close but no cigar last week as they fell 61-58 to the Temple Owls. Guard Mika Adams-Woods wasn't much of a difference maker for the Bearcats; Adams-Woods played for 30 minutes but put up just nine points on 3-for-10 shooting.
The Pirates are expected to lose this next one by 5.5. They have failed bettors playing the spread in their past three games, so buyers beware.
With both teams hitting sour notes in their previous games, they will no doubt be looking to produce a better outcome in this one. Check back to see which squad is able to work their way into the win column.
