Who's Playing

Rutgers @ Massachusetts

Current Records: Rutgers 3-2; Massachusetts 4-3

What to Know

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights will take on the Massachusetts Minutemen at 2 p.m. ET Saturday at William D. Mullins Center. UMass should still be riding high after a win, while the Scarlet Knights will be looking to get back in the win column.

It looks like RU got the smaller half of the wishbone at Thanksgiving dinner. They fell just short of the Lafayette Leopards by a score of 53-51. That makes it the first time this season RU has let down their home crowd.

As for UMass, they can't say they have nothing to be thankful for this Thanksgiving week. They enjoyed a cozy 92-81 victory over the UMass Lowell River Hawks on Wednesday. UMass got double-digit scores from six players: guard Javohn Garcia (18), guard T.J. Weeks Jr. (12), guard C.J. Kelly (12), forward Trent Buttrick (11), guard Rich Kelly (11), and Michael Steadman (10).

Barring any buzzer beaters, the Scarlet Knights are expected to win a tight contest. But bettors beware: they are 0-4-1 against the spread when favored.

RU is now 3-2 while the Minutemen sit at 4-3. A pair of numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: RU has only been able to knock down 37.40% percent of their shots, which is the fifth lowest field goal percentage in college basketball. UMass has experienced some struggles of their own as they have allowed their opponents to shoot 47.50% from the floor on average, which is the 22nd highest shooting percentage allowed in college basketball. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
