What to Know

The St. John's Red Storm are 3-10 against the Seton Hall Pirates since January of 2016, but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit Saturday. St. John's and Seton Hall will face off in a Big East battle at noon ET at Madison Square Garden. The teams split their matchups last year, with the Red Storm winning the first 81-71 at home and Seton Hall taking the second 77-69.

St. John's found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unfortunate 87-64 punch to the gut against the Creighton Bluejays on Wednesday. The losing side was boosted by forward Aaron Wheeler, who had 16 points along with six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Seton Hall was just a bucket shy of a victory on Saturday and fell 73-72 to the Marquette Golden Eagles. Guard Jared Rhoden had a pretty forgettable game, finishing with 12 points on 6-for-14 shooting in his 35 minutes on the court.

The Red Storm are expected to win this handily, but they should have beaten the Pittsburgh Panthers Dec. 18 easily too and instead slipped up with a 59-57. In other words, don't count the Pirates out just yet.
