When the NCAA tournament selection committee handed down its mid-season look at the top 16 seeds, the Big East was represented by two teams -- No. 1 overall seed Villanova and 3-seed Butler. So the conference is looked upon highly on a national scale, and it did nothing to hurt that view this week.
Villanova, the reigning national title winner, ran through the tournament to emerge as victors over Creighton on Saturday night. With Selection Sunday just hours away, a 74-60 win over the Bluejays was a nice statement to the selection committee and final submission that it deserves the top overall seed in the Big Dance.
