The Rutgers Scarlet Knights have been on the wrong side of a one-way rivalry with the Penn State Nittany Lions and are hoping to record their first win since Jan. 7 of 2020. RU and Penn State will face off in a Big Ten battle at noon ET Sunday at Jersey Mike's Arena. The Scarlet Knights are out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.

RU skirted by the Indiana Hoosiers 66-63 this past Wednesday thanks to a clutch half-court bomb from guard Ron Harper Jr. with 0:02 left to play. Harper Jr. and center Clifford Omoruyi were among the main playmakers for RU as the former shot 5-for-8 from beyond the arc and finished with 19 points and six rebounds and the latter posted a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards in addition to four blocks.

Meanwhile, Penn State was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap this past Thursday as they fell 60-55 to the Illinois Fighting Illini. One thing holding the Nittany Lions back was the mediocre play of forward Greg Lee, who did not have his best game: he played for 33 minutes but put up just nine points.

The Scarlet Knights are the favorite in this one, with an expected 5.5-point margin of victory. But bettors beware: they are only 3-10-1 against the spread when favored.

RU's victory brought them up to 17-12 while Penn State's loss pulled them down to 12-15. RU is 9-7 after wins this season, and Penn State is 8-6 after losses.
