What to Know

The #12 Villanova Wildcats are 4-0 against the #17 Connecticut Huskies since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success Saturday. The Wildcats and UConn will face off in a Big East battle at noon ET at Wells Fargo Center. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Villanova came up short against the Marquette Golden Eagles on Wednesday, falling 83-73. Forward Brandon Slater put forth a good effort for the losing side as he had 18 points.

The Huskies lost a heartbreaker to the Creighton Bluejays when they met last March, and they left with a heavy heart again on Tuesday. It was close but no cigar for UConn as they fell 59-55 to Creighton. If the result catches you off guard, it should: UConn was far and away the favorite. Despite the loss, they got a solid performance out of forward Isaiah Whaley, who had 20 points along with six rebounds and four blocks. Whaley had some trouble finding his footing against the DePaul Blue Demons on Saturday, so this was a step in the right direction. Whaley's points were the most he has had all year.

The Wildcats are now 16-6 while the Huskies sit at 15-5. Two defensive stats to keep an eye on: Villanova enters the matchup with only 61.1 points allowed per game on average, good for 21st best in college basketball. As for UConn, they have been holding their opponents to a field goal percentage of 38.50%, which places them 14th in college basketball.
