What to Know

After a two-game homestand, the St. John's Red Storm will be on the road. The Red Storm and the Xavier Musketeers will face off in a Big East battle at 6:30 p.m. ET Wednesday at Cintas Center. The teams split their matchups last year, with Xavier winning the first 69-61 at home and St. John's taking the second 93-84.

St. John's was close but no cigar on Sunday as they fell 63-60 to the Connecticut Huskies. Guard Stef Smith had a pretty forgettable game, finishing with only six points on 2-for-10 shooting in his 31 minutes on the court.

Meanwhile, Xavier didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup with UConn last week, but they still walked away with a 74-68 victory. The Musketeers' forward Jack Nunge did his thing and had 22 points along with nine rebounds.

The Red Storm are expected to lose this next one by 8. The odds have been favorable for them against the spread on the road this season, even if it's been tough sledding overall. They are 6-2 ATS in away games but only 11-12-1 all in all.

Xavier's win lifted them to 17-7 while St. John's' loss dropped them down to 13-11. If Xavier want to win, they will need to focus on stopping St. John's' guard Montez Mathis, who had 14 points, and guard Dylan Addae-Wusu, who had 12 points and five assists in addition to seven boards. We'll see whether or not they are up to the challenge.
