DOVER, Del. (AP) Shayne Smith threw for three touchdowns in his first career start and Delaware State ended its season with a 41-7 victory over Virginia-Lynchburg on Saturday.

Smith, a sophomore and the third-string quarterback coming into the season, was 16 of 19 for 212 yards passing.

Taronn Selby made eight catches for a career-best 155 yards and two touchdowns in his final game while another senior, Brycen Alleyne, rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries.

Delaware State led 41-0 at halftime.

The Hornets outgained the Dragons 536-145, including 306-19 on the ground, and intercepted four passes, the most they have snagged since picking off four against Concord in 2006.

The Hornets survived two turnovers and 123 yards in penalties.

Delaware (3-8) won three of its last four games and finished with its most wins since going 5-6 in 2013.

The Dragons are a National Christian College Athletic Association program.
