Texas A&M has done an impressive job on the recruiting trail ahead of its inaugural season in the SEC and the Aggies added another big addition to their 2013 class on Sunday after Manvel (Texas) wideout Kyrion Parker committed.
“I just sat down with my family, weighed every option and talked it out,” Parker told GigEm247. “When we were done, everything pointed to Texas A&M, so I got it done today. I took a picture in my A&M shirt and then I sent a text message to Coach Sumlin asking him if it was ok for me to be an Aggie. Then, I called him later and he told me that’s what he’s been waiting to hear.”
The 6-foot-4, 195-pounder had committed to LSU the first week of June at the Tigers' camp but decommitted a week later after rushing into a decision. Parker seems firmly in the Aggies' camp at this point and plans to visit campus next month.
"I just loved the coaching staff there,” he said. “Coach Sumlin is a great guy. He’s a down-to-earth coach and he’s funny. It was so welcoming there and I just love the program. Plus, the way they run their offense, I think my game fits perfectly into that spread. I also really wanted to play in the SEC because that’s where the best competition is and that’s where you’re going to get better at.”
Texas A&M is up to 21 commitments for the class of 2013 with Parker becoming the fourth wide receiver of the group.
