PHOTOS: UConn shows off its new uniforms and helmet

Connecticut recently unveiled its new athletics logo. Now, the Huskies have new uniforms and helmets to go with the logo. And the helmet is certainly different.

That right there is UConn's new helmet, or at least one of the new helmets the Huskies will be wearing in 2013. As you can no doubt discern by looking at the photo, the helmet is quite different than what we're used to seeing.

As far as I can recall, it's the first helmet where the logo is actually on the front of the helmet rather than the side, and I have to say, I like it. Quite a bit, actually. It's different, which is nice, but it's not ridiculously different. It isn't made of chrome, designed solely for the purpose of making people say "oooh" at another shiny object placed before them.

As for the jersey, from the one good photo that we've seen, there doesn't seem to be anything too out of sorts here. School name, number, logo, no flashing lights or studs on the shoulder pads.

I have a feeling I'm in the minority here, but nice work, UConn. Uniforms like these deserve a new conference.
