We have some early guesses on which coach will succeed Les Miles at LSU. Surprise, surprise, but early odds on Miles' successor from Bookmaker.eu reflect similar names at the top.

In short, Houston's Tom Herman and Florida State's Jimbo Fisher aren't just "The Standouts" -- they're the runaway favorites. Here's how the entire odds list breaks down:

Tom Herman +100
Jimbo Fisher +250
Kliff Kingsbury +1400
Gary Patterson +1500
Bobby Petrino +1700
Lane Kiffin +2000
Mike Gundy +2000
Ed Orgeron +2300
Larry Fedora +2500
Kyle Whittingham +3000
Bryan Harsin +3500
Sonny Dykes +4000
Todd Graham +4000
Art Briles +5000
Chris Klieman +6000
Field - Any Other +350

To see Herman's name atop the list is no surprise. Even before the 2016 season started, one of the main talking points involved which Power Five program would make Herman an offer too good to refuse.

It's also worth noting that Fisher, who was an offensive coordinator at LSU under Nick Saban, and Petrino have already been asked about the vacancy. Fisher punted and Petrino vehemently denied interest. Not listed is Stanford coach David Shaw, who was still curiously asked about the job even though there is somewhere between a zero and a zero percent chance he leaves the Cardinal for another college job.

A few other noteworthy items...

1. There's a significant drop-off between Fisher and Kingsbury, but that Kingsbury still has favorable odds is interesting. There would be no greater contrast of styles or change in philosophy than the one between Miles and Kingsbury.

2. Lo and behold, Briles' name appears. He's a long shot for betting purposes, but not totally out of the running. Briles has made it clear he wants to coach in 2017 and I tend to believe someone, somewhere is going to give him an opportunity in some capacity, be it as a head coach or coordinator. However, that school will have to do serious vetting given Briles' connection to Baylor's sexual assault scandal. With so many other quality options sans baggage available, a program like LSU doesn't need to involve itself with that.

3. So, +350 on the field, eh? Sounds like oddsmakers don't want to hit hard on just anyone getting this job. That could mean this race is more wide open than previously imagined if LSU gets neither Herman nor Fisher.
