  • Rockets' Tristen Newton: Gets two-way deal with Houston

    Newton agreed to a two-way contract with the Rockets on Saturday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.

    After being cut by the Timberwolves in the preseason, Newton had begun the season as a member of the G League's Iowa Wolves. He been one of the G League's top playmakers this season, averaging 26.7 points, 7.5 assists, 4.8 rebounds, 3.1 three-pointers and 1.9 steals in 36.1 minutes per game over 19 appearances for Iowa while shooting 49.1 percent from the field and 37.6 percent from downtown. The 24-year-old combo guard will now be eligible to move between the NBA and G League as he joins the Houston organization.

    Indiana has decided to move on from Newton, who was signed to a two-way deal after being selected with the 49th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.
