Top Christopher Allen News

  • Christopher Allen: Done in Denver

The Broncos waived Allen (groin) with an injury settlement Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

After being moved to the injured reserve list less than a week ago, Allen is now set to become a free agent unless he's claimed by another team during the current waiver period. He has yet to see any regular-season NFL action.

  • Christopher Allen: Reverts to IR

Allen (groin) reverted to the Broncos' injured reserve Wednesday, Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports.

Allen was initially waived/injured by the team on Tuesday but reverted to IR after clearing waivers. It's unlikely the Broncos look to bring Allen back once he's off IR.

  • Christopher Allen: Kicked to curb

Allen (groin) was waived/injured by Denver on Tuesday, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.

Allen has missed the last two years after suffering a foot injury during his final year at Alabama and now he'll miss even more time. The 25-year-old is undoubtedly talented, as he racked up 48 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks as a two-year starter in college. If Allen clears waivers, he's expected to revert to Denver's injured reserve.

  • Broncos' Christopher Allen: Suffers groin injury Saturday

Allen injured his groin during Saturday's preseason victory against the Rams, Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports.

After signing with the Broncos as an undrafted rookie in 2022, Allen spent all of last season on injured reserve due to a preexisting foot issue. With injuries impacting the team's pass rush -- Baron Browning (knee) is on the active/PUP list, and Aaron Patrick still is recovering from last October's torn ACL -- Allen was vying for a Week 1 role. Allen's prognosis likely will determine whether or not he's available for the season opener.

  • Broncos' Christopher Allen: Competing for depth role

Allen (foot) is expected to compete for a depth spot at outside linebacker ahead of the coming season, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.

Allen has been held out with a foot injury since his last season of college football in 2021, but it seems like he's since moved past the issue. This foot problem was the main reason the talented linebacker was passed over in the 2022 NFL Draft. In two seasons as a starter at Alabama, the 24-year-old led the SEC in tackles for loss with 17.5, including 6.5 sacks, and tallied 48 tackles overall.

  • Broncos' Christopher Allen: Lands on IR

The Broncos have placed Allen (foot) on their injured reserve, Ryan O'Halloran of The Denver Post reports.

Allen started training camp on the NFI list before passing his physical on July 29. However, he was never able to actually practice and spent the last week working out on the side. His 2022 season will now be over unless both he and the team can come to terms on an injury settlment once his foot is fully recovered.

  • Broncos' Christopher Allen: Passes physical

Allen (foot) will be removed from the non-football injury list after passing his physical Friday, Ryan O'Halloran of The Denver Post reports.

Allen's stay on the NFI list didn't last long, and he has been cleared to practice with his teammates. The rookie has undergone a long recovery process to get over this foot injury, which sidelined Allen for the entire 2021 season at Alabama.

  • Broncos' Christopher Allen: Starts camp on NFI list

Allen (foot) will begin training camp on Denver's NFI list, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.

The foot injury that held Allen out for his entire redshirt senior year will also keep him out for at least the first few days of camp. Once he's ready to go, the rookie out of Alabama will compete for a depth role on the Broncos' front seven behind the likes of Randy Gregory, Alex Singleton, Josey Jewell and Bradley Chubb.
