Rodriguez was released by the Reds on Saturday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Rodriguez was signed for $7 million out of Cuba back in 2016 but failed to produce even an average batting line at any of his minor-league stops. As a 27-year-old in Triple-A last season, he hit a modest .283/.333/.354 with just three homers and two steals in 117 games.
