Matusz didn't factor into the decision Sunday versus the Mariners, giving up six earned runs on six hits and two walks over three innings. He struck out two.
All six of the runs given up by Matusz came on a trio of two-run homers over each of the first three innings. Nelson Cruz, Robinson Cano and Dae-Ho Lee all did the honors, chasing the 29-year-old after just 57 pitches. The southpaw had turned in two strong efforts for Triple-A Iowa, but his performance Sunday bore no resemblance to those outings.
