Dodgers' Alex Guerrero: Designated for assignment

Guerrero (knee) was designated for assignment by the Dodgers on Tuesday.

The Dodgers had to make a decision with Guerrero's rehab clock expiring, and instead of reinstating him to the active roster, they decided to effectively cut ties. Under the terms of his contract, Guerrero cannot be sent to the minors without his consent. Los Angeles will likely have to eat close to $9 million if it cannot find a trade partner within the next 10 days.
