Dodgers' Carl Crawford: Designated for assignment

Crawford was designated for assignment by the Dodgers on Sunday.

Crawford had just been starting to see consistent playing time in left field, but he did little with the opportunity, going 1-for-14 at the plate over a stretch of five consecutive starts. The 34-year-old will now have to clear waivers, though it's unlikely Crawford and the remaining $35 million on his contract will be claimed. To replace the veteran on the roster, Austin Barnes was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
