Kevin Herget: Becomes free agent

Herget elected free agency Sunday.

Atlanta designated Herget for assignment Friday, and rather than accepting an assignment at Triple-A Gwinnett upon clearing waivers, he'll test the open market. He appeared in two games in the majors this season across stops in Atlanta and New York, allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out one across three innings.
