Madero signed a contract Thursday with the Sioux City Explorers of the independent American Association of Professional Baseball, Talk Radio 1360 Sioux City reports.

After electing free agency in October, Madero didn't find any minor-league offers to his liking, so he'll move outside of affiliated ball to continue his career. The 24-year-old reliever reached the majors for the first time with Miami in 2021, appearing in six games out of the bullpen and giving up 12 earned runs over 12 innings.
