Reds' R.J. Alaniz: Activated and optioned

Alaniz (calf) was activated from the 10-day injured list and optioned to Triple-A Louisville, source reports.

Alaniz had already been pitching for Louisville while on a rehab assignment and will now remain there as a regular member of the roster. He's spent the majority of his season at that level, making 23 Triple-A appearances compared to just three in the majors.
