The Yankees released Romano (finger) on Monday.
Romano presumably isn't back to full health yet after the Yankees placed him on the injured list Wednesday with a right index finger sprain, but the big club won't bother waiting on his return. Instead, New York will cut Romano loose to free up a spot on the 40-man roster for Luis Severino (shoulder), who was reinstated from the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move.
