Romano took a line drive off his right hand in the ninth inning of Tuesday's win against Baltimore and was forced to exit the game. Manager Aaron Boone indicated after the contest that X-rays were negative and that Romano is expected to be evaluated on a day-to-day basis, MLB.com reports.
The reliever was brought back to the Yankees on a major-league deal Tuesday after being DFA'd by the team last week. He was summoned to protect a big lead in the ninth inning but managed to retire only one batter before the hand injury resulted in his departure. Romano was charged with one run on two hits and one walk while striking out one in the outing. It isn't yet clear how long he could be out of action.
