Willingham was called up Friday, but he failed to appear in any of the team's three contests against the A's before returning to the minors. Nationals' Amos Willingham: Recalled from Triple-A
Willingham was recalled from Triple-A Rochester by the Nationals on Friday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports. The Nationals will still need to bring up a starter early next week to face the Dodgers, but in the meantime Willingham will give the bullpen a fresh arm. Nationals' Amos Willingham: Moved to Triple-A
The Nationals optioned Willingham to Triple-A Rochester on Monday. Willingham was unable to secure a spot in the Nationals' Opening Day bullpen after he was roughed up for three earned runs on four hits in three innings over his first three outings in the Grapefruit League. The right-hander had little margin for error in the job battle after he languished in a middle-relief role over his 18 outings for the big club during the 2023 season, posting a 6.66 ERA and 1.81 WHIP in 24.1 innings.... Nationals' Amos Willingham: Sent to Triple-A
Willingham was optioned to Triple-A Rochester on Sunday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports. Willingham joined the Nationals on Sept. 1 for his latest stint in the majors, and he had a 3.48 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 4:5 K:BB over 10.1 innings during his time with the big club. The Nationals optioned Willingham to Triple-A Rochester following Saturday's 7-3 win over the Reds, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports. Washington reinstated right-hander Trevor Williams (personal) from the bereavement list Sunday to fill the opening on the 26-man active roster. The Nationals recalled Willingham from Triple-A Rochester on Sunday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports. Washington had optioned Willingham to Triple-A on Wednesday, but he'll be eligible to rejoin the Nationals just four days later since fellow reliever Rico Garcia (biceps) was placed on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move. Nationals' Amos Willingham: Selected from Triple-A
The Nationals selected Willingham from Triple-A Rochester on Monday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports. Willingham began turning heads in Double-A Harrisburg after he made 10 shutout appearances while striking out 14 batters through 10.2 frames. While his stats dipped a bit following his Triple-A promotion (3.46 ERA and 1.46 WHIP through 13 IP), he's now earned his first call up to the big leagues.
