Simons had just five points (2-11 FG, 1-5 3Pt), two rebounds and two assists in 28 minutes during Tuesday's 107-99 loss to the Kings. Simons struggled from the field, hitting just 2-of-11 shot attempts. Despite the poor contributions, he did play 28 minutes off the bench which is encouraging. If Rodney Hood (back) misses further time, Simons could be worth a look if you need points and threes.
Simons had 20 points (8-12 FG, 3-5 3PT, 1-1 FT) off the bench in Sunday's win over Atlanta. The second-year guard has now scored in double figures in five straight games, and he's averaging nearly 24 minutes per game in that span. Simons is virtually locked in as the third guard behind Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum, but he could see increased minutes for as long as Rodney Hood, who did not play Sunday, is battling a back injury.
Simons totaled 17 points (5-13 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 4-6 FT), two rebounds and two assists in 26 minutes Thursday against the Clippers. Simons reached double-figures for the fifth time this season, though he continued to struggle to offer much else fantasy-wise. The second-year guard's scoring in a remarkably efficient manner and is converting 53.1 percent of his field goals, 40.9 percent of his three-pointers and 85.7 percent of his free-throws os far this year. However, Simons' fantasy relevance is constricted by his backup role that allows him 16.9 minutes per game and his relatively minimal contributions of 1.4 rebounds and 0.7 assists per contest.
Simons poured in 14 points (5-10 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 3-3 FT) to go with two rebounds, two steals and one assist in 19 minutes off the bench Monday in the Trail Blazers' 127-118 loss to the Warriors. Simons has established himself as a leader on the Trail Blazers' second unit, as he's already hit double figures in points four times in seven games. The second-year guard is providing his scoring with efficient marks from the field (53.1 percent) and three-point range (40.9 percent), but he hasn't supplemented the offense with many peripheral stats. Simons is averaging just 1.4 rebounds, 0.9 steals, 0.7 assists and 0.1 blocks in his 16.9 minutes per game.
Simons finished with 15 points (6-9 FG, 3-6 3Pt), two rebounds and a steal in 21 minutes Friday against the Kings. Simons was the lone bench player to top double-digits for the Trail Blazers as he finished with an efficient 15 points on nine total shots. Aside from the scoring, however, Simons wasn't able to contribute much fantasy-wise. The second-year guard's failed to record an assist yet this season and has just two rebounds in 33 minutes of run on the year.
