The Steelers signed Jones to a reserve/future contract Thursday. Jones spent the latter portion of the 2020 season on Pittsburgh's practice squad, and he'll now get a chance to continue his development with the team through he offseason. Back in 2019, Jones suited up for four games with the Jaguars.

The Steelers signed Jones to the practice squad Tuesday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports. Jones signed with the Bills' practice squad in October when they had a COVID-19 outbreak in the tight-end room, and he's entering a similar situation in Pittsburgh, as Vance McDonald is currently on the reserve/COVID list. If McDonald returns for this week's matchup against the Jaguars, Jones likely won't be called up.

The Bills cut Jones from the practice squad Saturday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports. Jones signed with the practice squad Wednesday due to COVID-19 concerns in the Bills' tight end room, but the team is apparently now comfortable with the depth it has. The 24-year-old tight end played four games with the Jaguars in 2019, recording one five-yard reception on his only target.

Buffalo currently only rosters one available tight end, Tyler Kroft, with all of Dawson Knox, Lee Smith and Tommy Sweeney having been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, though Reggie Gilliam serves as a hybrid fullback/TE. Jones, aTulane product, appeared in four games with Jacksonville as a rookie in 2019, and he now appears fully recovered from his quadriceps and foot injuries. It's possible that Jones could see reserve action for the Bills during Sunday's game against the Patriots, considering the team's immediate need at the position.

The Jaguars waived Jones (quad/foot) from injured reserve Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports. Jones appeared in four games with Jacksonville as a rookie last season, during which span he hauled in his only target for five yards. When healthy, he'll now be free to sign on in a depth capacity with another team.
