Slavin was demoted to AHL Rockford on Monday, Charlie Roumeliotis of NBC Sports Chicago reports.
Slavin has appeared in just 14 games for the Hawks this season, registering just one assist, 12 shots and 11 hits while averaging 11:51 of ice time. With Chicago off until Friday's matchup with New Jersey, the move will not only save some cap space but also allow the winger to get some additional game action in the minors.
