Sabres' Colten Ellis: Placed on injured reserve

Ellis (concussion) was placed on injured reserve Thursday, Rachel Lenzi of The Buffalo News reports.

Ellis landed in the concussion protocol after exiting Tuesday's game against the Oilers, and he'll be sidelined for at least a week while he recovers. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen and Alex Lyon should see time in the crease while Ellis is unavailable.

  • Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Facing Red Wings

Skinner will defend the home goal versus Edmonton on Thursday, according to Mark Spector of Sportsnet.

Skinner is 10-8-4 with a pair of shutouts, a 2.91 GAA and an .887 save percentage across 22 games this season. Skinner gave up three goals on 24 shots in a 4-2 loss to the Red Wings on Oct. 19. Detroit is 13th in NHL scoring, tallying 3.13 goals per game.

  • Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Drawing start against Philadelphia

Schmid will start Thursday's road game against Philadelphia, Steve Carp of The Sporting Tribune reports.

Schmid has lost out on some playing time recently since Carter Hart is now eligible to suit up for the Golden Knights. However, Hart won't start against his former team Thursday, so Schmid will defend the crease for the second time in the team's last six games. Schmid has made 10 starts since the beginning of November, and he's gone 5-1-4 with a 2.15 GAA and .909 save percentage during that time.

  • Blue Jackets' Luca Del Bel Belluz: Sent down by Columbus

Del Bel Belluz was assigned to AHL Cleveland on Thursday, Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site reports.

Del Bel Belluz spent just over a week with the NHL club, but he'll head back to the minors after Boone Jenner was activated off injured reserve Thursday. Del Bel Belluz has made 11 appearances for the Blue Jackets to begin the year, logging an assist, 10 blocked shots, two hits and four PIM while averaging 9:04 of ice time. He'll likely be a candidate to be called back up if the Blue Jackets need additional depth at some point.

  • Wild's Matt Kiersted: Called up Thursday

Kiersted was recalled from AHL Iowa on Thursday.

Kiersted has seen minimal action in the NHL across the past few seasons, but he'll join Minnesota to provide additional depth while Jake Middleton (upper body) is on injured reserve. Kiersted has recorded three assists, 16 PIM and a minus-12 rating over 23 appearances with Iowa this year.

  • Wild's Mats Zuccarello: Put on injured reserve

Zuccarello (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Thursday.

Zuccarello was injured in the opening frame Monday in Seattle and did not return. The 38-year-old Norwegian had two goals and 12 points in 15 games before he was hurt. The Wild recalled Nicolas Aube-Kubel from AHL Iowa in a corresponding move.

  • Wild's Nicolas Aube-Kubel: Recalled by Minnesota

Aube-Kubel was recalled from AHL Iowa on Thursday.

Aube-Kubel was sent to the minors in late November, but he'll rejoin Minnesota after Mats Zuccarello (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve Thursday. Aube-Kubel hasn't yet appeared in any NHL games this year, but he's recorded five goals, eight assists, 28 PIM and a minus-4 rating over 23 AHL appearances to begin the season.

  • Wild's Jake Middleton: Placed on injured reserve

Middleton (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Thursday.

Middleton suffered the injury Monday in Seattle in the third period and did not return. He has six assists, 35 PIM, 42 hits and 43 blocked shots across 28 appearances this season. The Wild realled Matt Kiersted from AHL Iowa in a corresponding move.
