The quarterfinals of the US Open will begin on Tuesday and the marquee event of the day will be the match between the Williams sisters, No. 23 Venus and No. 1 Serena, that will open the night matches at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN

Serena is just three wins away from completing the calendar grand slam for the first time in her career, and would become the first to do it since Steffi Graf in 1988. After a shaky third-round performance, Serena looked to be in top form on Sunday when she cruised in straight sets against Madison Keys.

Standing in her way of potential history in the quarterfinals is sister Venus.

Venus opened her US Open with a pair of three-set matches and looked shaky, but she's found her stride and dominated her last two matches, winning both in straight sets.

With Venus coming into form -- and historically she's been great on hard courts -- this figures to be a very tough task for Serena on the court, and we already know the emotional toll these matches take on both of the sisters.

Playing each other is nothing foreign for the Williams sisters -- they met in the fourth round at Wimbledon this year -- and the two have played four previous times at the US Open. The head-to-head record in New York is 2-2, with Serena winning the most recent meeting in 2008.

While Serena will be the prohibitive favorite, it's Venus that has had the advantage on hard courts, winning two of the last three meetings between the sisters on hard courts -- including the most recent hard-court match in 2014.

The Williams sisters may be the marquee match, but they aren't the only match on Tuesday. Here is the full quarterfinals schedule for the men's and women's singles competitions:
