Having trouble making gains at the gym? No matter how much you eat you just can't seem to put on weight? Don't give up hope just yet.

Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, who is best known for playing "The Mountain" on Game of Thrones, wasn't always the human skyscraper he is now.

In fact, he was a relatively normal-looking person back in 2006, when the future strongman was just 17-years-old.

According to Buzzfeed, the 6-foot-9 Iceland native weighed around 230 pounds back in 2006 while playing professional basketball for K.R. Basket Reykjavík. And he looked like this:

So in just 10 years, Björnsson has gained nearly 200 pounds of pure, brute muscle to become "The Mountain."

Why not continue the hoop dreams? Björnsson explained in an interview with GQ:

"I was always getting injured. I injured my ankles quite badly. I had to have surgery. So the second time I had an operation I decided to take a break from basketball to heal my foot. I could train more then, and I just fell in love with the weights, fell in love with training hard, started to put weight on quite fast, started to get strong really fast. I saw results."

Results? Yeah, that's one way to put it.
