Barcelona's Lionel Messi and Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo are on the shortlist of 10 players for the UEFA Best Player in Europe Award for the 2014-15 season. 

Messi, who won three trophies with Barca this past season, is joined by teammates Luis Suarez and Neymar. 

Five members of Juventus' Champions League runner-up squad are also on the list: Paul Pogba, Carlos Tevez (now with Boca Juniors), Andrea Pirlo (now with NYCFC), Arturo Vidal and Gianluigi Buffon all made it. The last player is Eden Hazard of Chelsea.

The winner, decided by journalist votes, will be announced on August 28th. Before that, the list will be cut to three on August 12th. Messi had 58 goals and 28 assists this year for his club, while Ronaldo had 61 goals and 22 assists.  

Messi won the award in 2011, Andres Iniesta in 2012, Franck Ribery in 2013 and then Ronaldo's got his in 2014.
