When the French Open starts Sunday, the men’s bracket will be missing some big names.
No. 2 Andy Murray withdrew Tuesday with a back injury, and No. 7 Juan Martin del Potro dropped out Wednesday so he could get treated for a respiratory illness, according to Tennis World.
Other withdrawals on the men’s side include Americans Mardy Fish (heart condition) and Brian Baker (knee surgery) and Brazil’s Thomas Bellucci (abdominal injury). Tennis World reports that Switzerland’s Stanislas Wawrinka also might withdraw due to his thigh injury.
Del Potro won the 2009 U.S. Open and reached the French Open semifinals that same year.
