Golf has been played at St. Andrews for as long as anyone can possibly trace their own ancestral tree. The place was a bunny farm before the Civil War even started in the United States.

This week's British Open will mark the 29th edition at the Old Course. Here's a cool look at how the town itself has changed (and not changed) over the last 150 years. That top photo is from 1849 (courtesy of Golf Club Atlas).

The Old Course has nearly always delivered us grand champions (Bobby Jones, Sam Snead, Jack Nicklaus, Seve Ballesteros and Tiger Woods among them). Will Jordan Spieth join that list of historic names, or will a no-name upend his Grand Slam bid?
