Tiger Woods made it official on Friday with the announcement that he would be making his PGA Tour return after more than 14 months off, playing at next week's Safeway Open at Silverado Country Club in Napa, California.

While he had previously stated his intentions to play at the Safeway weeks ago, after such a long absence, there was still concern that he might not be ready. Now it's official and the golf world is thrilled about the return of it's greatest star.

Among those excited to see Woods back on the course is legendary golfer Gary Player, who had a message to Woods that he posted on Twitter, reminding Woods to prove everyone doubting him wrong.

Woods has not played in a PGA Tour event in 411 days since the conclusion of the 2015 Wyndham Championship and there's plenty of reason to be skeptical of his ability to get back to his dominant form. But this is Tiger, and if nothing else, we should all hope that he can get back to being one of the best in the world, because it would be so good for the game to have him competing for wins again.
