WATCH: Phil Mickelson gets hilarious caddie advice from a young fan during round
The exchange of the year happened at the Dell Technologies Championship on Monday
Phil Mickelson finished T6 at the Dell Technologies Championship on Monday at TPC Boston. He shot sub-70 scores all four days for his best finish in months. How did he do it? Well, one way was asking young fans for advice, which he did during his final round.
"Would you go for it right here, or would you lay up?" asked Mickelson. "If I could hit my 3-wood 260, I would probably go for it," the young kid replied.
The low-key best part of the exchange is that Mickelson doesn't laugh at the kid. He identified someone who would be in on the joke with him, and his nod of approval was acknowledgement of that fact. Related: Mickelson is the absolute best, and we do not deserve him.
"I like the way you think," Mickelson said before taking a hack at the ball. After the entire sequence of events, Mickelson turned to the kid and said, "Riley, you can caddie for me anytime." Performance art at the highest level.
