A's make deal to acquire veteran catcher Kottaras
The surprising A's, a new buyer, completed a deal with the Brewers.
The A's have made a deal to acquire catcher George Kottaras from the Brewers, sources said.
Kottaras will go to Oakland, which is already deep at catcher. It isn't clear yet how the A's will make room for Kottaras, a 29-year-old veteran who had been designated for assignment.
The A's have starter veteran Kurt Suzuki and roke Derek Norris, a promising hitter who's off to a slow start, batting .206 with three homers.
