Sean O'Sullivan

Money can't buy you everything, but it can buy you Sean O'Sullivan.

That's the lesson the Jays have learned, as they've acquired the right-handed swing man from the Royals in exchange for redeemable currency.

The 24-year-old Sullivan, who was out-righted to Triple-A Omaha back in April, has a 6.92 ERA in 53.1 PCL innings this season, largely working out of the bullpen. Over that span, he's struck out just 26 against 23 walks.

In 193.2 career innings at the major-league level, O'Sullivan has an ERA of 6.13. In those innings, he's been plagued by low K rates and high HR rates. Suffice it to say, O'Sullivan is an uninspiring addition, but after Toronto's run of pitching injuries they're probably taking a "throw it against the wall and see if it sticks" approach.

For the Royals, in addition to fattening the coffers by thousands upon thousands of dollars, the move opens up a spot on the 40-man roster.
