On Tuesday, the Dodgers announced they have added Hall of Famer Greg Maddux and longtime big leaguer Raul Ibanez to their front office. Both will serve as special assistants to the baseball operations department, including president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman.

Maddux, now 49, has spent the last few seasons working in the Padres' and Rangers' front offices. He's said to have an incredibly sharp baseball mind and great instincts, which surely contributed to his historically great career as a player.

The 43-year-old Ibanez is known throughout baseball is an excellent clubhouse guy and tireless worker, two traits that I'm sure will carry over into the front office. He spent last season working as a television analyst after retiring as a player in 2014.

The Dodgers don't just hoard talent on the field. They do it in the front office too. The club hired former Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos as a special assistant a few weeks ago, and they have former GMs Josh Byrnes, Ned Colletti, and Gerry Hunsicker on the staff as well.
