The Miami Marlins' ownership saga continues.

Tuesday introduced two new pieces of information about the situation. The first, courtesy of the New York Post, highlights former Florida governor Jeb Bush's confidence in his group's chances of winning the bid to purchase the Marlins:

Bush said he was "confident" of becoming the exclusive bidder for the Miami Marlins when speaking to The Post Monday afternoon on the seventh floor of the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif.

[...]

The Bush bidding team is "hoping to learn sooner rather than later" if they become the winning bidder, he said.

Bush might have sufficient reason to be confident, given that it appears his group -- which includes former New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter, who is slated to run the baseball operations department -- has raised the necessary funds to purchase the team. That news comes courtesy of SportsBusiness Journal reporter Daniel Kaplan:

Bush and Jeter had previously been reported as the winning bidders. Obviously that report has since proved to be wrong, but perhaps we'll soon call it "premature" if Bush's confidence is well-placed.
