Phillies starting pitcher Jonathan Pettibone ended an eight-game winless streak and got back over .500 Tuesday, in a 3-1 win over the Pirates.
Pettibone limited Pittsburgh to just one run on three hits, with the sole run coming on a sixth-inning solo home run by Garrett Jones. Pettibone walked three batters and struck out six -- his most since May 25 -- while throwing 58 of 102 pitches for strikes.
Pettibone is 4-3 on the season, after starting 3-0 in his first five starts. He lowered his ERA to 3.99, bouncing back from a tough June that saw him go 0-2 with a 5.13 ERA. His next start is scheduled for Sunday against the Braves at home.
