The Mariners have claimed outfielder Scott Cousins off waivers from the Blue Jays, the club announced Tuesday via Twitter.

Cousins, 27, hit only .163/.200/.267 in 92 plate appearances for the Marlins in 2012 and owns just a .523 career OPS in 128 games. He was claimed by the Blue Jays on Oct. 17 but was designated for assignment as the 40-man roster filled up as players came off the 60-day disabled list.

Cousins is best known for colliding at the plate with San Francisco's Buster Posey in 2011, breaking the catcher's leg and forcing Posey to miss the rest of the season.
